My dancer is under 18. Can she come by herself?
We’re thrilled to welcome teen dancers! Let us know if your minor-age dancer is coming by herself and staying at the hotel so we can make sure she is properly supervised. Reach out to us at elevatedanceconference@gmail.com.

DANCE COMPETITION
Do I have to compete?
The dance competition is an opportunity to perform in front of an audience and share your hard work and artistry. While there is no requirement to compete, expect a fun and supportive space of mutual respect with fellow frum dancers.

The dance competition sounds exciting! Can I come just to compete?
The dance competition is only open to participants of the Elevate conference.

How much time do I have for my piece?
Each group will have up to THREE minutes.

How many people can be in a piece?
NEW UPDATE! In order to remove as many barriers as possible for dancers to participate, we will be allowing duets as well as groups of three or more in the competition.

Can I perform in more than one piece?
To make sure we have time to include everyone in the competition, each dancer may only perform ONE TIME in the competition.

What if I am coming by myself and want to compete?
No worries at all! While the competition is for groups of three or more, we know some dancers will be attending on their own. To make sure you have the opportunity to perform, you may join our “Process to Perform” workshop on Sunday. In this dedicated session, solo dancers will come together and work with a teacher who will choreograph a group piece, giving you the chance to learn, connect, and shine on stage with new friends.

How will the competition be scored?
We are looking for more than simply technique. Dance includes artistry, expression, and connection to music, fellow dancers, and audience.

What are the music guidelines?
Music should be Jewish and/or instrumental.

What are the costume guidelines?
Costumes should have tops that cover collarbone, sleeves, and skirts that cover the knees.

What the due date to submit?
Pleas send in by JANUARY 15 your edited music files and names of the dancers in your piece, or if you will be attending the Process to Performance workshop to develop a piece with a choreographer during the conference.

Can my mom/grandma/aunt/sister/friend watch me perform in the competition?
Yes! There will be an opportunity to purchase tickets to watch the competition.
ADULT/TEACHER SHOWING
What is the Adult/Teacher Showing?
While adults in a group of THREE OR MORE are welcome in the competition, if instead, you would prefer a non-competitive opportunity to perform, there will be an adult/teacher showing on Monday. It will take place in a studio and allow you to share your artistry and hard-work with fellow dancers at the conference.

How much time do I have for my piece?
Solos will have up to 90 SECONDS, duets up to TWO MINUTES, and groups of three or more up to THREE MINUTES.

I would like to perform a dance with my daughter. Is this allowed?
Yes! We love seeing your work and creating intergenerational art. Keep in mind, a dancer may only dance ONE TIME, in EITHER the adult/teacher showing OR the competition.

Can I dance in the competition and the adult/teacher showing?
No. A dancer may only dance ONE TIME, in EITHER the adult/teacher showing OR the competition.

SPONSORSHIPS
The elevate conference sounds great. How can I help support it?
